The Real Food Plan Frugal Shepherds Pie

Easy Peasy, Tasty Shepherds Pie So I started by frying a couple of chopped onions in some coconut oil (olive oil would do if coconut freaks you out!). Once the onions are soft in goes 400-500g of lamb mince and 2 x cloves garlic - chopped. Brown the mince and then chuck in whichever veg you are using - I did 2 x celery stick - chopped and 2 x carrots - chopped. I then added 4 x fresh tomatoes - chopped, a Kallo Organic Beef Stock Cube, 500ml … [Read more...]

How to toss healthily

It's Shrove Tuesday, here in the UK more commonly known as Pancake Day. Pancakes taste great and are easy to make, just throw some milk, eggs and flour into a bowl and whisk up before frying in a pan.  Then add any combination of sweet or savoury toppings, my favourites are chocolate spread and back to basics sugar with fresh lemon juice. However, if you are following The Real Food Plan or avoiding gluten or dairy, the above recipe is … [Read more...]

Beetroot Curry

This is absolutely delicious! The quantities are a little bit vague as I tend to just go with what’s in the fridge and make necessary adjustments to the spices but this recipe is based on the quantities I used yesterday. It really wouldn’t matter if you didn’t have this much beetroot as you could always add more tomatoes or spinach instead. The original recipe used large tomatoes but I didn’t have any so put 8 cherry tomatoes in instead … [Read more...]

Aubergine & Spinach Curry

Well it was the spring equinox on Wednesday but as you are probably more than aware, especially if you’ve had to cancel plans this weekend, it is freezing cold and there is plenty of snow on the ground. I went out for a chilly dog walk yesterday morning and when I got in fancied doing some cooking - something warming and comforting! As it was Saturday there wasn’t much left in the fridge; we normally shop and prepare for the week ahead on a … [Read more...]

Catherine’s Healthy Fish Pie

Real food really isn't boring and tastes great, there is no reason for you to follow a diet based around crap ready meals that are packed full of additives and flavourings to disguise the taste.  One of our Achieve Bootcamp @ Home members is documenting her journey on our bootcamp blog.  Catherine has been a member of Achieve for a couple of years and has lots of experience with The Real Food Plan.  Yesterday she sent me the recipe for a fish pie … [Read more...]

What’s all the fuss about the OMG diet?

Following on from my last post about my interview on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire about fad diets I thought I would expand this week on the current fad diet getting all the attention.  It is the ‘Six Weeks to OMG – Get Skinnier than all your Friends’ diet book.  It has sold FIVE times more copies than the popular Dukan diet. The reason the OMG diet has been in the news recently is because the ASA (Advertising Standards Agency) banned a … [Read more...]

Is there anything wrong with fad diets?

On Sunday morning, I was a guest on Mollie green’s radio show on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire where I was asked to be the expert on fad diets and to give my opinion on them.  I have to admit I was a bit nervous before going on as I’ve never been on the radio before and was worried I wouldn’t be able to think of anything to say or would just keep saying ‘errrrm’.  However, once I got started I soon relaxed and found it was really easy to talk … [Read more...]

Summer Cookbook

Healthy food doesn't have to be boring, the recipes in this book are wheat, gluten, sugar and dairy free and all taste fantastic. They  have been tried and tested by us,  our clients and members and the images throughout are ones that they have taken of the drinks they prepared in their own kitchens.  They are not professional photos and represent how the drink could look in real life rather than if prepared by a chef in a … [Read more...]

Back to the start

Fran and I have been following an organic way of eating for a long time now.  Eating good quality food that has been farmed in a sustainable and ethical way is something we are both passionate about. That's not to say that we are perfect and don't eat anything else but that we make a conscious effort to eat in places that have a good reputation and know the source of the foods they are serving.  Over the coming weeks, we will share with you … [Read more...]
